Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to make reservations?
A: If you are coming with a group of 10 or larger we ask that you please call us in advance to make reservations. NO BUSES PLEASE. We are too busy on the weekends to accomodate large groups on buses/limos and they will not be allowed in without advance notice.

Q: Does your winery host weddings or private parties?
A: We apologize but our winery no longer hosts weddings or private parties. We like to keep our winery and grounds open to our customers and do not reserve any of the winery for private occasions.  Casual get-togethers are welcome with advanced notice with groups of 10 or more.

Q: Can I have my wedding/engagement/graduation pictures taken at your winery?
A:  We are sorry but we do not allow formal pictures to be taken at the winery. It can be too intrusive to our patrons.

Q:
Do you serve food?
A: We offer a bread and cheese plate. You are welcome to bring SMALL picnics. No grills or crock pots. When picnicing, we ask that any thing you bring in you take out.

Q: Can I bring beer or other alcoholic beverages to your winery?
A: Under no circumstances can we allow outside alcoholic beverages on the premises. Due to Ohio state law, we must strictly enforce this policy. We reserve the right
to inspect all coolers and picnic baskets for alcohol.

Q: Are you open on holidays?
A: We are open for Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July, and limited hours on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. We are closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas day, New Years Day, and Easter.

Q: Am I allowed to bring my dog?
A: You may bring well behaved dogs on leashes. Please clean up after your pet and stay in the Rustic Pavilion. No pets inside the winery.

Q: Will you donate wine toward our non-profit's fundraising event?
A: South River Vineyard is a working farm. As a small, independent business, we can only accommodate a certain number of the many donation requests we receive. When we are able to, we focus on supporting LOCAL nonprofit organizations.

Q:
Do you charge for wine tasting?
A: Yes, because it is illegal to give wine away in Ohio, we have to charge a fee for tasting. We do not have a wine tray but are happy to pour and discuss the wines of your choice. Please limit tastings on Saturdays as we are very busy and so we can better serve all of our customers. During the week is a great time to come out if you are interested in trying a number of different wines.

Q: Do you ship wine?
A: Yes, we can ship by the case throughout Ohio as well as to the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, and Virginia. Cost for shipping in Ohio is $25. Shipping varies by state so call or email us if you have any questions. Call us during the week to order a case.
